I am a Muslim and have a friend who is Jewish. This friend moved to Israel and has joined the Israeli army. Although he supports Israeli withdrawal from Palestinian lands, I am not sure how to interact with him now. How should I approach my relationship with him now?
You do not have to cut your personal relations with him. Yes, you must guide him to differentiate between truths and falsehoods as much as you can, if it is possible. Almighty Allah said: "Call unto the way of your Lord with wisdom and fair exhortation"(16:125).
How can the infallibility of the Imams (peace be upon them) be proven? Are there traditions in Sunni books which inform us about the Imams and their names?
Shia Muslims prove the infallibility of their Imams (peace be upon them) in various ways; some are logical, and others are from the Holy Quran and the traditions of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). The books of beliefs state these proofs clearly. Many narrations from Sunni and Shia books of traditions mention that the Imams are twelve, without mentioning their names. Many narrations in the Shia books of traditions mention the names of the Imams (peace be upon them).
Is it permissible to read erotic stories?
It is not permissible to read erotic stories if such reading involves sexual lust.
His Eminence allows permanent marriage with a Christian. How does he then view verse 5:51 of the Holy Quran, where it states not to take Christians as 'awliya', while there is a 'wilayah' between husband and wife?
It is not permissible for a Muslim woman to marry a non-Muslim man, but it is permissible for a Muslim man to marry a Christian woman. However, if a Muslim man is married to a Muslim woman, it is not permissible for him to marry at Christian or Jewish woman except with the permission of the Muslim wife. When a Muslim man marries a Christian or Jewish woman, it is not permissible for him to have a bond of solidarity with her that one is required to have by the mandate of faith, and the kinship that should exist between believers that brings about a sacred connection, the connection of faith and belief. It is permissible for one to cohabit with her with goodness and kindness, as the teachings of Islamic ethics instruct us in the treatment of the wife and the provision of her needs and rights.
