The Visit of the Coptic Orthodox Head of Community
2013/10/04

His eminence, the religious Authority, Sayyid Al-Hakeem (May Allah prolong his life) met in his office in the Holy city of Najaf with Father Mina of Jerusalem head of the Coptic Orthodox community in Baghdad. His eminence emphasized during the meeting on the importance of peaceful coexistence amongst the different sects, and his eminence rejected any form of seclusion by any group. He demanded from the sensible people in the Islamic world to take the initiative in limiting the aggravation of the tensions, particularly in this part of the world in which the situation is already tense. His eminence brought attention to the historical relationship between the Muslims and the Coptics, since the mother of Ibrahim, the son of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his progeny), is Lady Mary the Coptic. Similarly, Father Mina expressed the strong relationship between the Egyptian and Iraqi nations. At the end of the meeting, he extended an open invitation to the scholars of the Hawza to visit his church in Baghdad.
